Société Générale was awarded Leveraged Finance Bank of the Year 2008 in France during the prestigious Private Equity Magazine Award Ceremony held last Tuesday 3rd 2009 in Paris.
In front of 500 guests, Société Générale received the price as both Senior and Mezzanine debt provider of the year, confirming the SG's role as a marketfederator with a proven capacity to deliver product quality across the capital structure. This coveted price has rewarded the efforts put together by Société Générale in generating and executing most of the transactions in the French market, both in the SMID-cap and large-cap sectors, in a challenging market environment. Société Générale was indeed Mandate Lead Arranger and Bookrunner in the largest and most visible transactions in France, namely, Converteam (EUR 1,000m), CEPL (EUR 266m), Socotec (EUR 260m), Etanco (EUR 172m) and Buffalo Grill (EUR 145m), as well as in a dozen transactions arranged by BIEN/FIN.
The decision to grant this award to Société Générale, among 6 other institutions, was based on both, the Bank's capacity to arrange and syndicate LBO transaction in all the market segments as well as the very positive feedback from market participants (Sponsors, Lawyers and Consultants) about Société -Générale professionalism and reliability as a financing partner.
