HEP Croatia - EUR 125m club deal term loan facility
On December 16, 2008, Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking signed a EUR 125m club loan for Croatian power company Hrvatska Elektroprivreda (HEP), together with Erste Bank and Intesa Sanpaolo (via subsidiaries Banca Infrastrutture Innovazione e Sviluppo and Privredna banka Zagreb acting in the capacity of agent). The 5-year commercial loan will be used to finance company's investments, including, in particular, part of the construction of Unit C of the thermo-electric power plant in Sisak, Croatia for a new capacity of 250 Mwe/50MWt (contract awarded in 2007 to Russian company Technopromexport) and general corporate purposes. SG CIB's final holding in the facility is 40%, shared between CAFI/EXT and BHFM. Participation of the bank in the transaction and successful cooperation between CAFI, BHFM Paris and Croatia (Splitska Banka) will contribute to further strengthen SG CIB's overall relationship with HEP and create business opportunities for SG CIB, both in local and international corporate and investment banking activities.
